Parenthood

No matter how much people try to prepare you for it, you really never understand what it is like until you're living it. Feeding, changing diapers and wiping vomit off of your clothes is part of a routine. I feed and change diapers from around 6pm when I get home from work or 10pm on school days, until 1 am when I put him to sleep, and Jayme takes the long shifts which consist of the first feeding at 4am until I get back home from work. We don't sleep more than a few hours at a time, and my part of the job is easy because I'm not "equipped" to make Niko food, which requires a monumental effort. After a few weeks of this, you feel like a zombie but you can't remember things ever being any different, and then you understand another thing that people used to tell you before he was born; that it only takes one of these looks,

to make you feel that there is nothing else you would rather be doing.

The key in these first few months, before Niko learns to sleep all night, is to Sleep When He Sleeps. Yes, this means taking a nap in the middle of the day, or first thing in the morning....doesn't matter. Just make yourself do it....at this level of exhaustion, it should not be too hard! :o)
It is the only way to not go insane due to lack of sleep.
The laundry can wait, the cleaning can wait, EVERYTHING else can wait....get in a few naps. Then when you are little more energized, you can look into those lovely 'life chores' you have put off.
This too shall pass. And before you know it, he will be sleeping all night, and your sleep patterns will return to a more normal rhythm.
:o)
